Kick-off activities that genuinely lift the team

The biggest risk at a kick-off is that it becomes six hours of slides. These activities add competition, movement and a shared experience next to the strategy — without losing the message.

What we recommend for this event

Every one of these is from our own inventory, available to rent with staff.

TapWar — January–February

TapWar

Two people, one wall, ten seconds. Departments or regions against each other — at a kick-off this creates competitive energy faster than any warm-up speech.

TapTap — January–February

TapTap

An individual reaction test with a live leaderboard. You can run an all-day ranking on it and announce the winner in the closing block.

Snatch It — January–February

Snatch It

A quick two-player table game for the breaks. Needs no space and no explanation, yet a crowd forms around it every time.

Trivia Night — January–February

Trivia Night

A company quiz where half the questions are about this year's goals and numbers. It's the one format where the strategy actually lands without feeling like a slide deck.

Robot Warriors — January–February

Robot Warriors

Teams compete robot against robot. Visual, photogenic, and even the spectators get invested.

AI photo booth — January–February

AI photo booth

At a kick-off the “team of 2027” styling works well: futuristic, visually consistent portraits your internal comms can use all year.

Gifie Trading Cards — January–February

Gifie Trading Cards

Every colleague gets their own card with their role and a target number. An especially good icebreaker when new joiners are in the room.

Holobox — January–February

Holobox

The CEO message or the annual goal as a hologram — it stops people in the corridor, not just in the plenary room.

Lucky Spin — January–February

Lucky Spin

A prize wheel during breaks, loaded with company merch. A simple way to keep people in the room instead of on their phones outside.

Team competition beats individual competition

At a kick-off the logic that works best isn't individual scoring but team scoring: departments, regions or mixed teams collecting points across several stations. It doubles as team building, because people who never work together end up on the same team.

Where it fits in the agenda

Right after the morning block, around lunch, is the strongest slot — attention drops there and movement brings it back. Save the leaderboard announcement for the closing block; it keeps the stakes alive until then.

And if food is on the list…

And if food is on the list: a proper barista coffee before the afternoon block beats any motivational speech. We arrange that through Snack Supply.

Coffee bar

Barista coffee during the breaks — at a kick-off this is the highest-return station.

Snack bar

Sweet and savoury snacks between the long blocks.

Bubble Tea Bar

An afternoon lift when the programme runs past 4pm.

Custom concepts we'd build for this

These aren't off-the-shelf rentals but concepts: if one appeals, we'll talk through the build and the lead time.

Custom concept

Company Challenge Leaderboard

We connect several Gifie games into one competition: participants collect points at each station and results run on a live company leaderboard. Split by team or department it motivates all day, and gives the closing block something to announce.

AI Future Me

Guests generate an image of themselves hitting a (slightly exaggerated) 2027 company goal. It's funny, but it's about the targets — which is exactly why it sticks better than a slide.

Example combinations

Starting points. We adapt any of them to your headcount, venue and budget — pricing always comes in a tailored quote.

Kick-off Starter

For a one-day kick-off, 50-150 people: one contest, one photo experience, good coffee.

Not sure which one to pick?

Tell it your headcount, venue and vibe, and Gifie Match will put a concrete shortlist together — it already knows which event type you're on.

Frequently asked questions

How much agenda time does an activity block take?
A 60-90 minute break comfortably fits 3-4 stations with everyone trying each one. For a 30-minute slot we'd suggest 1-2 fast activities.
Can the quiz be tailored to our company goals?
Yes, we build the question set together — usually half general, half company-specific, so it's neither dry nor too inside-baseball.
Do these work in a hotel or conference room?
Yes. Most of the listed activities are indoor, run off a standard socket and need 2-4 m² per station.
